A mathematic problem

Post by Rumo on Sat 23 Jan 2010, 5:55 am

Hey, I know most of you hate math, so I do, but this is funny:

The one who finds the mistake first will get a cookie:

a = b | * a
a² = ab | - 2ab + a²
a² - 2ab + a² = ab - 2ab + a²
2a² - 2ab = -ab + a²
2(a² - ab) = a² - ab | / (a² - ab)
2 = a² - ab / a² - ab
2 = 1

All wrong.
First doesn't make sense.
Second, -2ab + aa annd what more?!?
Third: Ah, this one is correct.
Forth: No way, first one is the double of the first.
Fifth;: Double again.
Sixth: All the others show that ab = aa. So = 2.. no way!
Seventh. I won't comment.

Very Happy

I tihnk you didn´t get it.
All the lines are correct, exept of the last one.
You can say a=b, then the others are right, but where is the mistake that the result is 2=1?

If line 1 is related with last.. one of them is incorrect.

I tell you the solution:

In the 6th line, you divide (a²-ab), but you can´t do that, because a² and ab have the same worth. a²-ab=0 and not 1 when you divide.
