Situation in Haiti

Post by Envy on Tue 19 Jan 2010, 1:47 pm

Well Hatiti has had a recent earthquake that has devestated thousands. 100,000+ dead, 800,000+ injured.
i just wanted to say that we should always remember that we should be happy for what we have because there is much, much worse. Sad

I agree. The ironic fact is that almost every single one of us that can play videogames probably have a 'rich' family life and live in countries that have lots of money to prevent deaths from earthquakes/disasters. If you haven't heard, the earthquake in Haiti wasn't that bad itself, but apparently all the buildings in the country were so poor and old, that they don't have the modern earthquake-proof features. So when the earthquake hit, a lot of buildings collapsed, and many people were injured that way.

If you don't know already, most injuries in earthquakes are from structural damage, which means the earthquake doesn't kill people -- it's the buildings, vehicles, lamp posts, etc that injure/kill people.

We are very lucky, and condolences to the people whom have lost their lives/family members in the disaster.

My dad lived in a " Favela " when he was a kid.
When I was a kid, he made me eat everything in my plate and taught me that I should be happy of what I have.
We are very lucky...
