Low FPS? no problem

Post by Hunt3r on Mon 29 Jun 2009, 5:36 pm

Playing a smooth Savage, without cpu lags,, is vey important.

If you use Savage XR you should considder doing the next things
- deactivate shaders. They might look nice but they got an big impact on FPS. Oh, and FPS = Frames per second.
- deactivate grass. You dont need fancy effects, and with grass on you might pop in some firewards
- deactivate glow filter. Much better off imo.
- deactivate V-Sync. V-Sync is a graphic tweak that limitates your FPS to monitor's refresh rate.
- increase your display's refresh rate as much as you can
- open startup.cfg and aim for the host_maxfps line, change the value to 999, aim for gfx_minfps and change the value to 100, cl_lerpshift 0, cl_smartnetcode 0

Those were my 2 cents, please feedback.

Django wrote:As we stated before performance will be improved for the v1.0 release in a few months. The performance issue with the mini map was fixed a long time ago but in spec mode xr draws all buildings and sensors which can hit performance a little.

Few tips on increasing the performance of savage:

Use the "Low" setting in the graphics options and put the slider for "weather quality" and "fire effect scale" as small as possible, turn off "minimap drawings", and "show fps weapon".

Use a low resolution 1024x768 is ideal the game has todo less work to upscale textures.

Use "Performance Autoadjust" in the graphics options to set minimum frame rate (fps) you want for the game (also set a limit on the minimum farclip, how far you want to see).

Turn off Anti-Aliasing and Anisotropic Filtering in your graphics driver settings.

To improve performance on large servers bring down the console with ¬ or ~ and reduce the number of particles silverback can draw at one time with cl_maxactiveparticles 128 and reduce the number of beams that can be drawn with cl_maxactivebeams 64

But these changes don't work for me.

Could be because:

I can't find "V-sinc" anywere in options, so i can't really change that.

+

Display Refresh rate is also gone Oo

+

There is no 'startup.cfg' in my XR savage folder Shocked

Plz hunty help !! Razz

Because you have new drivers? Drivers take your RAM and turn it to graphics card, i have 8600m gs 256 mb but now have 1280 because 1gb less on ram =)

Tried doing all of that just now, but the cl_smartnetcode line can't be found in the .cfg file at all. All the rest worked.
