For the Greater Good

Post by Rostner on Sun 26 Dec 2010, 8:16 am

In light of TNaismith's recent announcement found here, I remembered an article that I read about 1 month ago. It really touched me and changed my perspective on my life and how I act. After a few minutes of searching, I found it, and I just thought I would share it with you. Now I know it's really long, but please read it anyways. Smile

Said it on IRC already:

DieOrFail: There are a few true points in this text, but
[22:49] DieOrFail: I think that guy is wrong somewhere
[22:49] DieOrFail: just a few details
[22:50] DieOrFail: He says media made us to what we are
[22:50] DieOrFail: That's just partly true
[22:50] DieOrFail: Go back i ntime
[22:50] DieOrFail: Look at the world 200-1000 years ago
[22:50] DieOrFail: Was it better then?
[22:50] DieOrFail: No.
[22:51] DieOrFail: The whole thing he's saying started way earlier
[22:51] DieOrFail: He's just describing how it is today, and there he's right
[22:52] DieOrFail: Just my thoughts Wink

From the comments section, someone posted this. My thoughts are the same as this guy:

Women are beautiful -- without any of the stereotypes, cosmetics, magazine-oogling, or self-depressing pressure from society, and men.

I'll be keeping your article close to heart, and will pass this on to people I knowingly trust will also take your message to heart... and maybe positive change for the world will be that one step closer to happening

It is so... bloody easy for any guy, especially on the internet, and especially among the male gamers, to just crack jokes and pass this article off as cyber-junk. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if someone was writing a blog response to this article that takes away the... heartfelt message this article is giving. It's just so easy to twist words around and to choose not to believe in something that sounds 'too passionate too be real'.

Well I too, think it's about time I finally came across an article where someone accurately explains the 'problem with women (more accurately, it's probably 'the problem with men')' while also clearly pointing out what needs to be done, now, and forever more, to change it.

"Dude, your asking for a perfect world, that's just like asking for world peace dude. It's not possible... you can't eliminate something like war... you can't change the world so easily..."

DoF is right in one point, that it wasn't better in the past.
Even in the medieval people had an imagination of the "perfect women", even without all the media like we have it today...
Nevertheless I don't think that the beauty of women is actually that less recognized by men, a myth...
